Abstract
Despite the conspicuous different appearances in the males, Capila jayadeva Moore, 1866, C. translucida (Leech, 1893), C. hainana mackwoodi (Evans, 1914) and C. barroni (Riley & Godfrey, 1921) are proved to be conspecific based on an analysis of the 658 bp COI gene sequences, and the result is supported by the genitalia morphology. Considering the distinguishable wing patterns in the male and the allopatric distribution, the following subspecific combinations are proposed: C. jayadeva translucida, C. jayadeva mackwoodi, C. jayadeva barroni and C. jayadeva arooni Eliot, 1987. Therefore, with the nominate subspecies and C. jayadeva khambounei Uehara, 2024, the sexually dimorphic C. jayadeva currently includes six subspecies.

Abstract
To date, only one species of the terebellid polychaete genus Thelepus Leuckart, 1849 has been described from Africa: T. pequenianus Augener, 1918. During a 2024 biodiversity survey in Arguin National Park (Mauritania), we discovered a second African species that we describe as Thelepus arguinensis sp. nov. It is characterised by notopodia restricted to only 20–35% of the body, three pairs of branchiae, each with numerous filaments, dorsal branchial gap absent, and thoracic uncini lacking a prow. Phylogenetic analyses of mitochondrial 16S and COI sequences confirm its distinctiveness from all congeners with available data. We also redescribe the polynoid Lepidonotus hupferi Augener, 1918 found sharing the tubes of some specimens of T. arguinensis sp. nov. and provide the first molecular data for the species, while extending its known distribution to Mauritania. This study documents a previously unreported facultative, likely commensalistic, association between the two species, highlighting both the underestimated diversity of West African polychaetes and the limited knowledge on the terebellid–polynoid relationships in the region.

Abstract
Among the Neotropical genera of Eumeninae, Zethus Fabricius, 1804, has the largest number of species and is divided into six subgenera in this region. The genus is further divided into 29 species groups, one of which is the Zethus spinosus group. This study provides a taxonomic review of the Zethus spinosus group based on external morphology with the objective of designating and describing five new species: Z. lioneli Cruciol & Lopes, sp. nov. from Bolívia, Z. platinotus Cruciol, Stange & Lopes, sp. nov. from Brazil, Z. platynotatus Cruciol, Stange & Lopes, sp. nov. from Bolívia, Z. semilunaris Cruciol, Stange & Lopes, sp. nov. from Brazil, and Z. semiplanus Cruciol & Lopes, sp. nov. from Argentina.

Abstract
The flea beetle genus Tegyrius Jacoby (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae, Alticini) is newly reported from Malaysia and Indonesia. Tegyrius clarki sp. nov. from Malaysia and T. indonesiana sp. nov. from Indonesia are described and illustrated.

The bluntnose knifefish genus Brachyhypopomus Mago-Leccia, 1994, is diagnosed from other Rhamphichthyoidea (Rhamphichthyidae + Hypopomidae) by the presence of a disk-like ossification in the anterior portion of the palatoquadrate, and by the following external characters: short snout, 18.7-32.6% of head length (vs. 33.3-68.6% in Hypopomus, Gymnorhamphichthys, Iracema, and Rhamphichthys), absence of a paired accessory electric organ in the mental or humeral region (vs. presence in Hypopygus and Steatogenys), presence of 3-4 pectoral proximal radials (vs. 5 in Akawaio), presence of the antorbital + infraorbital, and the preopercular cephalic lateral line canal bones (vs. absence in Racenisia). Brachyhypopomus cannot be diagnosed unambiguously from Microsternarchus or from Procerusternarchus on the basis of external characters alone. Brachyhypopomus comprises 28 species. Here we describe 15 new species, and provide redescriptions of all 13 previously described species, based on meristic, morphometric, and other morphological characters. We include notes on ecology and natural history for each species, and provide regional dichotomous keys and distribution maps, based on the examination of 12,279 specimens from 2,787 museum lots. A lectotype is designated for Brachyhypopomus pinnicaudatus (Hopkins, Comfort, Bastian & Bass, 1990). Brachyhypopomus species are abundant in shallow lentic and slow-flowing freshwater habitats from southern Costa Rica and northern Venezuela to Uruguay and northern Argentina. Species diversity is highest in Greater Amazonia, where 20 species occur: B. alberti, new species, B. arrayae, new species, and B. cunia, new species, in the upper rio Madeira drainage; B. batesi, new species, in the central Amazon and rio Negro; B. beebei, B. brevirostris, B. regani, new species, B. sullivani, new species, and B. walteri, widespread through the Amazon and Orinoco basins and the Guianas; B. belindae, new species, in the central Amazon basin; B. benjamini, new species, and B. verdii, new species, in the upper Amazon basin; B. bennetti, in the upper, central, and lower Amazon, lower Tocantins, and upper Madeira basins; B. bullocki in the Orinoco, Negro and Essequibo drainages; B. diazi in the Orinoco Llanos; B. flavipomus, new species, and B. hamiltoni, new species, in the central and upper Amazon basin; B. hendersoni, new species, in the central Amazon, lower Negro and Essequibo basins; B. pinnicaudatus in the central and lower Amazon, lower, upper Madeira, lower Tocantins and Mearim basins, and coastal French Guiana; and B. provenzanoi, new species, in the upper Orinoco and upper Negro basins. Five species are known from the Paraná-Paraguay-Uruguay basin and adjacent southern Atlantic drainages: B. bombilla in the lower Paraná, upper, central, and lower Paraguay, Uruguay and Patos-Mirim drainages; B. brevirostris in the upper Paraguay basin; B. draco in the lower Paraná, lower Paraguay, Uruguay, Patos-Mirim, and Tramandaí basins; B. gauderio in the lower Paraná, upper, central, and lower Paraguay, Uruguay, Patos-Mirim and Tramandaí basins; and B. walteri in the lower Paraná and upper Paraguay basins. Two species occur in small Atlantic drainages of southern Brazil: B. janeiroensis in the São João, Paraíba and small intervening drainages; and B. jureiae in the Ribeira de Iguape and Una do Prelado. One species occurs in the middle and upper São Francisco basin: B. menezesi, new species. Three species occur in trans-Andean drainages: B. diazi in Caribbean drainages of northern Venezuela; B. occidentalis in Atlantic and Pacific drainages of southern Costa Rica and Panama to Darién, and the Maracaibo, Magdalena, Sinú and Atrato drainages; and B. palenque, new species, in Pacific drainages of Ecuador.

Peixes elétricos do gênero Brachyhypopomus Mago-Leccia, 1994, são diagnosticados dos outros Rhamphichthyoidea (Rhamphichthyidae + Hypopomidae) pela presença de uma ossificação discóide na porção anterior do palatoquadrado, e pelos seguintes caracteres externos: focinho curto, 18,7-32,6% do comprimento da cabeça (vs.33,3-68,6% em Hypopomus, Gymnorhamphichthys, Iracema e Rhamphichthys), ausência de um órgão elétrico acessório pareado na região mental ou humeral (vs. presença em Hypopygus e Steatogenys), presença de 3-4 proximais peitorais radiais (vs. 5 em Akawaio), presença do antiorbital + infraorbital, e dos canais ossificados da linha lateral da região cefálica do pré-opérculo (vs. ausência em Racenisia). Aqui nós descrevemos 15 espécies novas, e fornecemos a redescrição de 13 espécies previamente descritas, baseado em caracteres merísticos, morfométricos e outros caracteres morfológicos. Nós incluímos notas sobre à ecologia e história natural para cada uma das espécies, e fornecemos chaves dicotômicas regionais e mapas de distribuição baseado no exame de 12.279 espécimes de 2.787 lotes de museus. Um lectótipo é designado para Brachyhypopomus pinnicaudatus (Hopkins, Comfort, Bastian & Bass, 1990). Espécies de Brachyhypopomus são abundantes em habitats de águas rasas lênticas e com correntes fracas, ocorrendo do sul da Costa Rica e norte da Venezuela ao Uruguai e norte da Argentina. A diversidade de espécies é maior na Grande Amazônia, onde 20 espécies ocorrem: B. alberti, espécie nova, B. arrayae, espécie nova e B. cunia, espécie nova, na drenagem do alto rio Madeira; B. batesi, espécie nova, na Amazônia central e rio Negro; B. beebei, B. brevirostris, B. regani, espécie nova, B. sullivani, espécie nova e B. walteri, amplamente distribuídas nas bacias Amazônicas e do Orinoco, e nas Guianas; B. belindae, espécie nova, bacia Amazônica central; B. benjamini, espécie nova e B. verdii, espécie nova, na bacia do alto Amazonas; B. bennetti, no alto, médio e porções baixas da bacia Amazônica, baixo Tocantins e alto rio Madeira; B. bullocki nas drenagens do Orinoco, Negro e Essequibo; B. diazi nos Llanos do Orinoco; B. flavipomus, espécie nova e B. hamiltoni, espécie nova, no médio e alto Amazonas; B. hendersoni, espécie nova, na Amazônia central, baixo Negro e Essequibo; B. pinnicaudatus no médio e baixo Amazonas, baixo e alto Madeira, baixo Tocantins, bacia do Mearim e rios costeiros da Guiana Francesa; e B. provenzanoi, espécie nova, nas bacias do alto Orinoco e alto Negro. Cinco espécies são conhecidas das bacias Paraná-Paraguai-Uruguai e bacias adjacentes das drenagens do sul do Brasil: B. bombilla no alto, médio e baixo Paraguai, baixo Paraná, Uruguai e drenagens Patos-Mirim; B. brevirostris da bacia do alto Paraguai; B. draco das bacias do baixo Paraguai, baixo Paraná, Uruguai, Patos-Mirim e Tramandaí; B. gauderio das bacias do alto, médio e baixo Paraguai, baixo Paraná, Uruguai, Patos-Mirim e Tramandaí; e B. walteri das bacias do alto Paraguai e baixo Paraná. Duas espécies ocorrem nas drenagens costeiras do sudeste do Brasil: B. janeiroensis no São João, Paraíba e em drenagens menores nas adjacências; e B. jureiae no Ribeira de Iguape e Una do Prelado. Uma espécie ocorre no médio e alto rio São Francisco: B. menezesi, espécie nova. Três espécies ocorrem nas drenagens trans-Andinas: B. diazi nas drenagens do Caribe no norte da Venezuela; B. occidentalis nas drenagens do Atlantico e Pacífico do sul da Costa Rica e Panamá até Darién, e nas drenagens do Maracaibo, Magdalena, Sinú e Atrato; e B. palenque, espécie nova, nas drenagens do Pacífico no Equador.

Abstract
The Californian grass-living genus Prosopoanaphothrips is newly recorded from China with two new species, P. flavipes sp. nov. from Aba, Sichuan and P. qilianshanensis sp. nov. from Qilian, Qinghai. These two are distinguished from the type species, P. reticulatus, by antennal segment IV with a forked sense cone.

The hydrological regime of the Molochny Lyman depends on the connectivity with the Sea of Azov, which has been maintained through a canal in recent decades. In the early 21st century, technical maintenance of the canal ceased due to financial constraints, leading the Molochny Lyman to reach critical water levels by 2013. The reduction in water volume was also accompanied by an increase in salinity (Demchenko et al., 2015). In June 2014, the connecting canal was cleared, resulting in a gradual influx of seawater.
To assess the response of the avifauna to these hydrological changes, regular monitoring of waterbirds was established at a study plot in the upper reaches of the Molochny Lyman. The results of these surveys form the basis of the present dataset. Thus, the data reflect both phenological shifts in the lyman's avifauna and the response of bird populations to the restoration of the water regime.

Abstract
The brachyceran family Vermileonidae (wormlion flies) is characterised by larvae that construct pitfall traps for predation. The Oriental genus Vermitigris Wheeler, 1930 previously included four described species distributed in China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In 1978, unidentified larvae of Vermitigris were collected by Fa-Sheng Li from Yadong, Xizang, China, but the adult stage remained unknown. During a 2025 expedition, adult specimens were obtained, enabling their association with the larvae and recognition as a new species. Herein, Vermitigris tsangyanggyatso sp. nov. is described, with accounts of its immature stages and notes on its biology. This discovery increases the number of Vermitigris species recorded from China from one to two, the total number of species in the genus from four to five, and all the extant species in the family from 66 to 67. The biogeographical implications for Vermitigris are also discussed.

Abstract
Specimen collections serve as core archives for global biodiversity. Particularly during periods of massive species population decline, physical specimens remain irreplaceable for biodiversity research and conservation. In this era of rapid digital advancement, traditional value and digital potential of specimens resonate in synergy. Digitization further transforms them into resources accessible across time and space. Among these collection specimens, type specimens are of paramount importance, they not only serve as the basis for species naming (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, ICZN), but also form as the core reference for morphological, biogeographical, and conservation biology research. Should their information be lost or the specimens themselves damaged, subsequent related studies would lose their verifiable foundation. Currently, despite the global surge in specimen digitization, most museums have yet to establish comprehensive digital management systems covering the entire workflow. Consequently, type specimen inventories remain essential foundational reference materials for taxonomists undertaking clade revision work. To address this, this paper compiles Orthoptera specimens in relatively good condition from the Zoological and Botanical Museum of Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), providing detailed documentation of 140 specimens labeled as “ types ”. These specimens belong to Acridoidea and Pyrgomorphoidea, comprising 4 families, 14 subfamilies, and 69 genera. Abstract
Lampanyctus mendeleevi sp. nov. is described from the New Zealand-east Australian region of the western South Pacific Ocean. It has relatively long pectoral fins, no cheek photophores, no luminous tissue at the base of the adipose fin, and an infracaudal gland extending the entire length of the caudal peduncle expanded to touch or nearly touch the AOp series.

Abstract
The study of the genus Heterotarsus from India, resulted in the discovery of the Sri Lankan species Heterotarsus ceylonicus Kaszab, 1976 from India. In addition to the identification key, images of type specimens and examined material, diagnosis and checklist of Heterotarsus species from India are provided.

Abstract
Morocco, encompassing both Mediterranean and Saharan regions, is recognized as a biodiversity hotspot, hosting a rich fauna of wild bees. While taxonomic research on Moroccan bees has accelerated in recent years, an update was needed to provide a more complete taxonomic foundation. Here, we present an updated checklist of Moroccan wild bees since the first complete checklist published in 2020. This work summarises and proposes a total of 143 changes to the previous checklist, which correspond to 14.8% of taxa compared to the first checklist: two new genera for the country (Schmiedeknechtia and Aglaoapis), 36 species recently described as new to science, 37 species recently recorded in Morocco, and 16 species newly reported here for the country. We further document 18 published synonymies, 33 taxonomic acts and clarifications, and provide records for 28 species previously lacking precise data. We also exclude 14 species from the previous checklist and 25 names based on published synonymies and taxonomic acts and clarifications. This update brings the total to 1,043 wild bee species belonging to six families and 70 genera, compared to 961 species in the 2020 checklist, with 10% (108 species) currently considered as endemic to Morocco. This first update, resulting from a collaborative effort among experts, strengthens the taxonomic framework required to advance research on wild bee diversity, endemism, and conservation in Morocco.

Abstract
More than a century ago, Wilhelm Schultze published his seminal work, A Catalogue of Philippine Coleoptera, documenting over 290 species of scarab beetles. Since then, no comprehensive updates have been made. This catalog seeks to provide an exhaustive record of all scarab species reported in the Philippines from the early 1800s to the present. Currently, scarab beetles in the country are represented by seven subfamilies, 104 genera, and 787 species. Notably, numerous species listed here are known solely from their original descriptions. With the growing interest in the taxonomy and biodiversity of Philippine scarab beetles, we anticipate the potential rediscovery of certain species and significant taxonomic revisions through the combination or splitting of the country’s currently known genera and species of scarab beetles. Ultimately, this compilation should be regarded as an evolving reference rather than a definitive work, serving as a foundation for future research and discoveries in Philippine scarab biodiversity.

Abstract
Three new osmiine bee species (Megachilidae, Osmiini) inhabiting the Arabian desert are described: Hoplitis (Hoplitis) heliotropii sp. nov. from Saudi Arabia, H. (Hoplitis) trichodesmae sp. nov. from Saudi Arabia and the Arava Valley in Israel, and H. (Platosmia) trisinuata sp. nov. from Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Field observations and microscopical analyses of female pollen loads indicate that all three species exhibit a pronounced preference for Boraginaceae as pollen hosts, i.e. H. heliotropii and H. trisinuata for Heliotropium and H. trichodesmae for Trichodesma. The females of H. heliotropii and H. trisinuata possess apically curved or hooked bristles on the proboscis and the fore legs, respectively, which they use to scrape pollen out of the narrow flower tubes of Heliotropium, whereas females of H. trichodesmae apply buzzing to shake pollen out of the flowers of Trichodesma. The occurrence of specialized pollen-collecting bristles used by Palaearctic bees and pollen wasps to exploit Heliotropium flowers and the buzzing behaviour in bees of the Megachilidae are discussed.
