For each voucher, a variable number of individuals from each taxon were prepared and preserved in 4% buffered formaldehyde for morphological studies. For the DiSSCo collection, recent samples from 2020 to 2024 were selected. Samples were collected during different seasons and years, from the LTER stations. Zooplankton samples were collected using a plankton horizontal sampler (200 μm mesh net size) and preserved with borax-buffered formaldehyde for microscopic analysis.
