dataset was collected in 6 sampling points in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.","sampling":"To survey the amphibian and reptile community, three methodologies were used in combination: active diurnal and nocturnal searches, active searches at breeding sites, and pitfall traps.\nActive diurnal and nocturnal searches - This method consists of searches delimited by transects exploring areas with a high diversity of microhabitats, where various representatives of the herpetofauna can be found in locations conducive to their shelter, such as fallen logs, termite mounds, leaf litter, the interiors of bromeliads, tree hollows, and rock crevices. The survey was conducted by two observers, who carefully explored environments potentially colonized by herpetofauna representatives while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and using collection tools. \nTransects were predefined within each sampling point and were traversed for one hour in the morning (between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.) and one hour in the evening (between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.). It is worth noting that daytime sampling spanned 7 days, while night time sampling spanned 6 nights. \nActive search at breeding sites: This method consists of night time searches conducted in predetermined areas. The areas identified as breeding sites within the sampling stations were mapped during the daytime and thoroughly surveyed by two observers at night. \nIn addition to visual observation, this sampling method is effective for conducting an auditory amphibian census, preferably carried out during twilight and at night.\nPitfall trap: Pitfall traps consist of a series of buckets buried in the ground up to their rims, connected to one another by a guide fence and arranged in a straight line or in a “Y” shape. The guide fences consist of black plastic tarps up to 1 meter high, held upright by wooden stakes. The “AIQs” were distributed across all sampling points, with five traps installed in each area. The traps consisted of four 60-liter buckets arranged in a “Y” shape and connected by 50-cm-high plastic sheets. To prevent animals from drowning during rainy periods, holes were drilled in the buckets and Styrofoam partitions placed inside to serve as support in case of water accumulation. The traps were checked twice a day, early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The “AIQs” remained open for 7 consecutive days at each sampling site.","qualityControl":"Species identification was carried out using specialized literature as needed for the group in question, as well as through consultation with experts.
