The dataset comprises COI (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) barcode sequences generated from individual macroinvertebrate specimens collected across the United Kingdom, primarily using Malaise traps deployed at partner sites spanning a range of habitats.\nThe occurrence records were generated from specimens processed through the Sanger Institute Tree of Life (TOL) portal. Each record represents a single specimen for which a COI barcode sequence was successfully generated and taxonomically assigned using the BOLD Identification Engine or BOLD Sequence Classifier. Taxonomic identification was achieved at species, genus, or family level depending on reference database coverage. Taxon version keys (TVKs) were assigned by matching scientific names against the UKBOL gap list and UKSI higher taxa reference files.</p>","language":"eng","homepage":"https://registry.nbnatlas.org/public/show/dr3983","logoUrl":"https://registry.nbnatlas.org/data/dataProvider/Our+BIOSCAN+logo+%28Small%29.png","citation":{"text":"UK BIOSCAN (2026).
