In total, it houses around 2483 specimens. The current Lichenotheca began in 1978 with the collections made by Patxi Heras. Over the last more than 40 years, several collectors have contributed specimens, the most important contribution being that of Javier Etayo (Pamplona, Navarra, Spain). The best represented areas are the Basque Country and Navarre, although there are specimens from other areas of Spain, France, Equatorial Guinea and Venezuela among other countries.
