La Chinantla es una región de topografía muy accidentada y eso hace que la heterogeneidad climática sea muy grande aun sobre distancias relativamente pequeñas. Posiblemente esto, aunado a las variaciones edáficas, sea la causa de la gran variabilidad que se observa en la vegetación. Además, el estado de conservación de las comunidades vegetales es muy bueno en grandes áreas, quizá debido a la baja densidad poblacional y al aislamiento en que se ha encontrado hasta fechas recientes. Esta situación ha empezado a cambiar recientemente: la población está aumentando, se están expandiendo rápidamente las fronteras agrícola y ganadera, y se ha empezado la construcción de caminos que darán acceso a las poblaciones más remotas.. Esto amenaza la conservación de estos ecosistemas, de no encontrarse alternativas productivas viables a corto plazo o mediano plazo. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo concluir el inventario florístico de las partes de la región, en particular a las partes bajas de La Chinantla.

afines","relatedProjects":[],"abstract":"La Chinantla es una región de topografía muy accidentada y eso hace que la heterogeneidad climática sea muy grande aun sobre distancias relativamente pequeñas. Posiblemente esto, aunado a las variaciones edáficas, sea la causa de la gran variabilidad que se observa en la vegetación. Además, el estado de conservación de las comunidades vegetales es muy bueno en grandes áreas, quizá debido a la baja densidad poblacional y al aislamiento en que se ha encontrado hasta fechas recientes. Esta situación ha empezado a cambiar recientemente: la población está aumentando, se están expandiendo rápidamente las fronteras agrícola y ganadera, y se ha empezado la construcción de caminos que darán acceso a las poblaciones más remotas.. Esto amenaza la conservación de estos ecosistemas, de no encontrarse alternativas productivas viables a corto plazo o mediano plazo.
