The Computerized Database of Québec Seabirds (CDQS), also known as the Banque informatisée des oiseaux marins du Québec (BIOMQ), is a database that allows to monitor the status, distribution, and trends of seabird populations nesting in Québec, particularly along the shores of the river, estuary, and Gulf of St. Lawrence. Compiled and regularly updated for over 40 years by the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS), Québec region, it contains information on seabird colonies composed of Gaviidae (loons), Hydrobatidae (storm-petrels), Sulidae (gannets), Phalacrocoracidae (cormorants), Laridae (gulls, terns), Alcidae (murres, auks, puffins), and Common Eiders (Anatidae). The data comes mainly from seabird colony surveys conducted by the CWS during the breeding season but are also enriched by numerous scientific sources. It includes, among other things, data from the literature dating back more than a century, as well as observations from amateur ornithologists.
La Banque informatisée des oiseaux marins du Québec (BIOMQ) est une base de données qui assure le suivi du statut, de la répartition et de la tendance des populations d’oiseaux marins nichant au Québec, en particulier le long des rives du fleuve, de l’estuaire et du golfe du Saint-Laurent. Constituée et mise à jour régulièrement depuis plus de 40 ans par le Service canadien de la faune (SCF), région du Québec, elle contient des informations sur les colonies d’oiseaux marins composées de Gaviidés (plongeons), d’Hydrobatidés (océanites), de Sulidés (fous), de Phalacrocoracidés (cormorans), de Laridés (goélands, mouettes, sternes), d’Alcidés (guillemots, pingouins, macareux) et d’Eiders à duvet (Anatidés). Les données proviennent principalement des inventaires de colonies d’oiseaux marins réalisés par le SCF en période de reproduction, mais sont aussi bonifiées par de nombreuses sources scientifiques. On y retrouve notamment des données provenant de la littérature et remontant à plus d’un siècle, mais aussi des observations d’ornithologues amateurs.
