Abstract:USGS Western Fisheries Research Center (WFRC) is supporting USACE in their mission to assess the effects of planned construction of civil works projects in the American River and downstream of the Feather River on the Sacramento River on the threatened southern distinct population segment (sDPS) of green sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris). Receiver deployment locations include near the Sacramento Weir, Tule Canal, Sacramento River above Sherwood Harbor, and the lower American River. Receiver deployments may be modified over time.

Acoustic receivers arranged in line on the ocean floor as well as attached to buoys, gliders and large animals (e.g. grey seals) pick up the coded acoustic signals from these tags identifying each tagged sea creature that passes within half a kilometer of the receiver.
