Parent cultivars are kept by CNR-IBBR in Perugia, Umbria, Italy. Overall, the CNR-IBBR-PG Olive collection comprises about 1,700 different accessions, including clones and crosses of many European and extra-European varieties. The main goal is the long-term preservation of the olive biodiversity as a source of genetic material for selecting and cultivating new Olive tree varieties and cultivars with specific characteristics .
