(IRG) has been conducting marine turtle population assessments in the Lake Worth Lagoon on behalf of the Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management (PBCERM). In 2017, the scope of this project was extended to include Jupiter Inlet, and recent research efforts documented considerable numbers of juvenile green turtles. We plan to continue capture efforts in Jupiter Inlet to gather data on the size class distribution, fibropapillomatosis (FP) incidence and severity, and dietary preferences of sea turtles in the area. In addition, we plan to attach acoustic receivers to 8 juvenile green turtles to look the movement patterns of green turtles in the area. Acoustic receivers arranged in line on the ocean floor as well as attached to buoys, gliders and large animals (e.g. grey seals) pick up the coded acoustic signals from these tags identifying each tagged sea creature that passes within half a kilometer of the receiver. Data collected by these listening stations are subsequently uploaded to one of many compatible data nodes, adding to the reach of an intercompatible network of networks designed and maintained by the Ocean Tracking Network, producing current and reliable records for every part of the globe. Certain classes of electronic tags and listening equipment (receivers) may also be outfitted or co-located with sensors to measure the ocean's temperature, depth, salinity, currents, chemistry, and other properties.","relatedProjects":[],"abstract":"Since March of 2005, Inwater Research Group, Inc.
