More than 50 localities were sampled on each trip, including ditches, canals, rivers, ponds, swamps, lakes, old mining pools, and reservoirs. In these samples, we revealed six species new to Malaysia: two of them are planktonic (Bosmina meridionalis and Bosmina fatalis) and four are substrate-associated (Simocephalus expinosus, Anthalona spinifera, Anthalona vandammei, Karualona serrulata). Both species of the genus Bosmina appear to be recent additions to the local fauna, as this genus was not recorded in Malaysia until the last decade. New records are obtained on three rare local species: Simocephalus mixtus, Streblocerus spinulatus, and Acroperus harpae. The morphology of two uncommon East Asian species, Coronatella acuticostata and Chydorus obscurirostris tasekberae was investigated in detail for the first time. With the new records, the list of valid cladoceran species of Malaysia now consists of 72 species as compared to 62 species reported by Idris (1983) in his monograph. European Journal of Taxonomy 149: 1-34, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2015.149

Abstract. Twenty-three species of cheilostome bryozoans are described from the Malaysian islands of Penang and Langkawi based on a brief reconnaisance survey of shore localities. These are the first bryozoans to be formally described from either island and they demonstrate the potential for further research on these neglected suspension feeders. Of the 23 species recorded, 12 are anascans, half of which are malacostegines, and 11 are ascophorans. The new combinations Acanthodesia falsitenuis (Liu, 1992), A. perambulata (Louis & Menon, 2009) and A. irregulata (Liu, 1992) are introduced. Most of the species recorded are widespread in the Indo-Pacific, and some are apparently globally distributed in the tropics and subtropics, including the invasive fouling species Bugula neritina, Hippoporina indica and Schizoporella japonica, as well as the coral reef associates Cranosina coronata and Hippopodina feegeensis. Plastic debris and glass bottles were encrusted by Jellyella eburnea, a coloniser of floating biological and man-made objects that is becoming widespread in the tropics and subtropics of the world’s oceans.
","type":"CHECKLIST","hostingOrganizationKey":"7ce8aef0-9e92-11dc-8738-b8a03c50a862","hostingOrganizationTitle":"Plazi.org taxonomic treatments database","hostingCountry":"CH","publishingCountry":"FR","publishingOrganizationKey":"a064f300-1bc8-41ea-9364-b864ef4e8938","publishingOrganizationTitle":"European Journal of Taxonomy","publicationDate":"2015-11-03T12:00:00.000+00:00","modified":"2026-09-09T01:16:55.848+00:00","endorsingNodeKey":"da44cd31-5901-4687-a106-6d1c7734ee3a","license":"http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/legalcode","keywords":["Taxonomy","Bryozoa","fouling","Malaysia","Cheilostomata"],"recordCount":0,"nameUsagesCount":75},{"key":"1e357e76-0e29-4930-bd7e-29c66c8fffba","title":"Four new species of Cephennomicrus Reitter (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scydmaeninae) from Malaysia","doi":"10.11646/zootaxa.3911.2.8","description":"
This dataset contains the digitized treatments in Plazi based on the original journal article Jałoszyński, Paweł (2015): Four new species of Cephennomicrus Reitter (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scydmaeninae) from Malaysia.
