ABSTRACT
The Armorican Massif (France) is located in the western part of the Variscan Belt, in which few Stephano-Permian sedimentary basins are known. These basins have been poorly documented over time, and their fauna remains poorly understood. These basins are the Carentan, Saint-Pierre-la-Cour, Finistère, Doué-la-Fontaine and Sillon Houiller Vendéen basins. This study synthesises the available sedimentary and palaeontological data in order to relate these Stephano-Permian basins to other Variscan basins. New specimens of Aeduella blainvillei (Agassiz, 1833) are described from the Saint-Pierre-la-Cour Basin, extending the distribution range of this taxon and suggesting two distinct modes of repartition among Aeduellidae actinopterygians. The revision of the faunal occurrences in the Carentan and Saint-Pierre-la-Cour basins allows to establish the distribution of taxa across the Variscan Belt, in particular the key taxa Pseudestheria Raymond, 1946 and Anthraconaia Trueman & Weir, 1946. The application of regional dating based on paleoflora makes it possible to correlate the basins of the Armorican Massif with other Variscan basins. Updating the chronology and palaeobiogeography in these basins of the Armorican Massif shed light on the state of art in one of the westernmost areas of the Variscan Belt and enable future comparisons with other Variscan massifs.

ABSTRACT
We describe several mammal remains from the late middle Eocene Kyargan locality (Pondaung Formation) in which only primate and two ungulate remains had been reported so far. Besides the identification of two anthracotheriids, a homacodontid and a brontotheriid that are already known in other Pondaung localities, dental material is attributed to a dermopteran whose morphology suggests that the Pondaung dermopteran might have been related to the New World plagiomenids. Moreover, two upper molars attributed to a small dichobunoid artiodactyl might represent the first evidence of the upper dentition of Pakkokuhyus lahirii Holroyd & Ciochon, 1995, a species scarcely known in Pondaung.

Abstract
Fungi in the family Chaetomiaceae are ubiquitous, colonizing diverse substrates and frequently occurring as endophytes in various plant species. Despite their prevalence, knowledge of their association with the Orchidaceae remains limited. In this study, we investigated the diversity of endophytic fungi associated with the roots of wild orchids. Based on comprehensive morphological and multigene phylogenetic analysis (ITS, LSU, tub 2, and rpb 2), 51 isolates were identified as belonging to six Chaetomiaceae genera: Arcopilus, Chaetomium, Collariella, Dichotomopilus, Humicola, and Pseudohumicola. Among these, 19 isolates represented ten new species, and 32 isolates were identified as belonging to 12 described species: Arcopilus amazonicus, A. aureus, and A. cupreus were recorded, and four new Arcopilus species were described: A. abbreviatus sp. nov., A. endophyticus sp. nov., A. kasuyae sp. nov., and A. singularis sp. nov., for which a description of the asexual morph is provided, offering new insights into the morphological diversity of the genus. Five Chaetomium species were identified: C. coarctatum, C. cochliodes, C. globosum, C. pseudocochliodes, and C. tenue. Furthermore, Collariella fluminensis sp. nov. and Dichotomopilus brasiliensis sp. nov. were proposed, while D. variostiolatus was reported for the first time as an orchid root endophyte. Three new species of Humicola were discovered: H. capillata sp. nov., H. paraisoensis sp. nov., and H. purpurea sp. nov. Furthermore, Pseudohumicola crispata sp. nov. is described, alongside descriptions of the sexual morph of Ps. pulvericola and the acremonium-like synanamorph of Ps. cinnamomeobrunnea. Based on morphological analyses and the genealogical concordance phylogenetic species recognition (GCPSR) we propose the synonymization of A. albae under A. cupreus, and C. albiziae under C. cucumericola. These findings significantly expand the known diversity of Chaetomiaceae and highlight the complex fungal communities associated with wild orchids.

Abstract
The Cape Floristic Region (CFR) is the most plant-dense Mediterranean-type ecosystem on Earth, but the number of described plant bugs (Heteroptera, Miridae) is relatively small. While Miridae are often host-plant specific, an association with succulent plants is only found in ~ 20 plant bug species worldwide. A combination of recent fieldwork in South Africa’s Western Cape region and iNaturalist [http://www.inaturalist.org/] observations allows us to document and describe a new genus and species of dicyphine Bryocorinae, Fatumocoris flattirei gen. et sp. nov., associated with Cotyledon orbiculata L. (Crassulaceae). This new plant bug genus is unusual among dicyphines as it possesses prominent spines on the pronotum, a wider posterior margin of the pronotum, and distinctive dark, white, and reddish coloration. The placement is confirmed with morphological examination and inclusion of Sanger sequence data in a recently published molecular dataset of Miridae. Light microphotographs, SEM micrographs, and female and male genitalic images are provided.

ABSTRACT
Plio-Pleistocene sediments of the Shungura Formation in the Lower Omo Valley in Ethiopia, have been intensively prospected for their abundant African fossil fauna, including early hominin remains. In this paper, we present descriptions of 65 wood samples collected in these sediments and dated from 3.6 to 1.7 Ma. Geological studies performed during half a century all over the Turkana Lake Basins now provide precise absolute dates for each of the fossil wood samples we have studied. A total of 17 botanical families, 26 genera and four species are identified, all belonging to tropical taxa. Most of them bring new information that increases present knowledge of the late Cenozoic flora from the tropical lowlands of Ethiopia. Our interpretation of the past environment of the studied area shows the occurrence of a permanent and dense riverine forest, with tall trees and diversified taxa that varied through time. Taxa of humid tropical forests occurred during the Late Pliocene. Deciduous trees indicating seasonal climate attested to variations in the amount of rainfall and the length of dry seasons that persisted throughout the Pleistocene. These changes are discussed in parallel with other indicators such as pollen and fauna. Reconstruction of the past environment at the selected time intervals of fossil wood deposition emphasizes the great diversity of past ecosystems available to early hominins mainly Australopithecus, Paranthropus and Homo found in the Lower Omo valley during this time interval.
